Hip-hop musician Rich Homie Quan passed away on September 5. The rapper, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, was just 34, and so far, a cause of death has not been revealed.
The talent found some notable commercial success in America throughout the last decade with a series of projects and hit singles. Now, many of his most familiar releases have returned to—or finally debuted on—the Billboard charts as fans mourn his death.
Quan earns a brand new hit album this week, as his mixtape I Promise I Will Never Stop Going In debuts on the Billboard 200. Luminate reports that the set moved 11,000 equivalent units in the past tracking frame. That’s enough for the project to open at No. 110 on the list of the most-consumed albums in the country.
I Promise I Will Never Stop Going In appears to be Quan’s third career placement on the Billboard 200, and his first posthumous appearance. The title, which was originally released in 2013, stands as his lowest-ranking effort, as his previous wins, Rich as in Spirit (No. 32) and Back to the Basics (No. 84), both reached higher.
Three of Quan’s singles appear on several charts each, as they were clearly the ones that fans flocked to. “Lifestyle” with Rich Gang and Young Thug is the top performer of the bunch, and it may remain the rapper’s biggest hit. The tune reappears on all of the following lists: Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (No. 17), Hot Rap Songs (No. 16), and Rap Streaming Songs (No. 13). The tune also debuts on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart, opening at No. 15.
“Flex (Ooh Ooh Ooh)” also manages to appear on the same number of lists, though which specific charts it finds space on differs from “Lifestyle.” The track settles at No. 9 on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and Rap Digital Song Sales tallies, re-entering the top 10. It’s also back on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (No. 19) and Hot Rap Songs (No. 18) lists.
One more Quan tune, “Type of Way,” also returns to several tallies. That single soars on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart, hitting No. 14. It comes in at No. 20 on the Hot Rap Songs list and one spot further down on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs roster.
