A group of Somerset schoolgirls are celebrating after dancing their way to a silver medal at an international competition in the United States.
Four students from Worle School were part of an 11-strong UK squad that placed second in the world in the hip-hop dance category at the Allstar World Championship in Orlando, Florida.
Felicity, a Year 7 pupil, and Mika, Daisy, and Ava, all in Year 8, represented their school and their country at one of the most prestigious cheer and dance events on the global calendar.

The team’s routine, themed around the evolution of hip-hop—a genre born in 1970s America and now a worldwide cultural movement—captivated judges and audiences alike.
The girls committed to a rigorous training schedule ahead of the championship, dedicating 12 hours each month to perfecting their routine.
“When we placed second, we didn’t know what to do,” said the trio. “So we guessed we have to hug! We’re speechless, shocked, and lost for words.”
The international contest, which draws elite dance squads from around the globe, featured top-level competition—but it was the UK team’s passion, precision, and energy that stood out.
Speaking after the team’s return, Worle School headteacher Mark Tidman said: “Congratulations to Felicity, Mika, Daisy, and Ava on their remarkable achievement. They’ve not only represented Worle School with pride but also inspired everyone here with what’s possible through hard work and belief. We are all incredibly proud.”

The school community is now celebrating the quartet’s success, along with the wider team’s, with pride.
