*Legal drama for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is nothing to celebrate, according to the embattled hip-hop mogul’s longtime rival Suge Knight.
TMZ cites its new documentary “TMZ Presents: The Downfall of Diddy” as the place where Knight shared thoughts on Combs and his current troubles from prison. During the interview, the Death Row Records co-founder and former CEO revealed he felt sympathy for Combs.
So much so that his thoughts turned to the Bad Boy Records hitmaker’s children and the negative impact Combs’ sexual assault allegations and developing scandals related to it have on hip-hop culture.
“The Downfall of Diddy,” streaming now on Tubi, chronicles Comb’s legal troubles, which centers on a series of sexual assault lawsuits and allegations connected to Combs as his beef with Knight and the raid on his Los Angeles, New York, and Miami properties by the Department of Homeland Security in March.
In addition to Knight, the documentary features TMZ founder Harvey Levin as well as Aubrey O’Day, a former member of the Bad Boy Records girl group Danity Kane; music producer Stevie J, a member of Bad Boy’s production team The Hitmen and journalist/activist Marc Lamont Hill.
Knight’s sentiments towards Diddy are a far cry from when the two battled for music supremacy in the ‘90’s. During that time, Death Row featured a legendary roster comprised of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound, the Lady of Rage and Tupac Shakur, among others.
For Combs, his Bad Boy imprint contained iconic competition in the form of the Notorious B.I.G., the Lox, Craig Mack, Faith Evans, 112, Ma$e, Carl Thomas, and Combs himself, who was a regular fixture in his artists’ music videos.
Both labels were known for churning out classic material as the rivalry co-existed with the East Coast West Coast beef that gripped hip-hop at the time. During the 1995 Source Awards, Knight fanned the flames of the beef with a not-so-subtle diss many felt was aimed at his chief competitor.
“Any artist out there that wants to be an artist and want to stay a star, and don’t have to worry about the executive producer trying to be all in the videos, all on the record, dancing…come to Death Row!” Knight said.

Despite his reputation for controversy, Knight confessed to not being one to revel in people’s downfalls. To hear him tell it, he’d opt for squashing his beef with Diddy via conversation, instead of cheering efforts to tear him down.
