EXCLUSIVE: Roots co-founder Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter is writing and directing a new narrative film that’s billed to “drops audiences into hip hop’s soul”, and it’s powered by WonderRoom, a 360° immersive platform.
Trotter is teaming with Impossible Creative as the studio and enlisting Oscar-winning Summer of Soul docu filmmaker Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Shawn Gee at Two One Five Entertainment as producers on the new project.
“I’m grateful to Impossible Creative for entrusting me with their technology in bringing my latest project to the world.” says Trotter. “Hip hop has a rich and beautiful history, and by creating a space where audiences play a role and physically live out its greatest moments, the potential for a better understanding of the genre and its roots increases significantly.”
“We’re ecstatic to be collaborating with Tarik and can’t wait to see what his unique creative genius will bring to the rapidly evolving field of immersive entertainment,” says Impossible co-founder and producer Charles Roy. “Working with Tarik and the team at Two One FIve is a dream come true. Tarik’s stunning vision will allow audiences to feel the music, stories, and culture of Hip Hop come alive around them in a way that’s never been experienced before,” said David Galpern, another co-founder and producer at Impossible.

Josh Williams will oversee the project on behalf of Two One Five, and studio/industry veteran Jonathan Schwartz, CCO of FanX Studios, will EP and oversee on behalf of Impossible Creative. Impossible is planning a Spring 2026 grand opening in New York.
