This week’s ‘Hip Hop Hello’ radio show welcomes Classic Flow and Take 6

Episodes of “Hip Hop Hello” — a radio show on 103.3 KOBV Bentonville Community Radio — are reposted to the Arkansas Times.

This week, we say Hip Hop Hello to Northwest Arkansas DJ/dance duo Classic Flow, who are performing at The Momentary twice this month: at Saturday’s Momentous electronic music festival and on March 15 with Versa-Style dance company. We also speak with Take 6, a multi-platinum-selling and Grammy Award-winning a cappella group that’s set to headline at the Walton Arts Center on April 12.

Around the time of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop in 2023, Van Dang (Poppin’ Sunshine) and Ambrosia Johnson (DJ Afrosia) formed Classic Flow, seizing the opportunity to create a platform celebrating classic hip-hop culture with premier rhythms, rhymes and breaks. The duo seamlessly merges the four elements of hip-hop — emceeing, breaking, DJing and graffiti — and has opened for Wu-Tang Clan.

Take 6, hailed by Quincy Jones as the “Baddest vocal cats on the planet,” has earned 10 Grammy Awards, 10 Dove Awards, 2 NAACP Image Awards and a Soul Train Award. They’ve been sampled by countless DJs and producers, and have collaborated with Ty Dolla $ign, J. Cole, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Kid Capri and more.
