Rapper Tory Lanez was hospitalized following an attack Monday at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, where he’s serving a 10-year sentence for shooting hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion.
The incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. in a housing unit, according to Pedro Calderon Michel, spokesman for the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. While officials haven’t specified the nature of the attack, multiple media outlets report Lanez was stabbed.
This attack comes amid ongoing tensions between Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion, with recent allegations that Lanez has been harassing her from prison through intermediaries.
A judge issued a protective order in January extending through 2030, prohibiting such contact. The incident highlights safety concerns within California’s prison system and draws renewed attention to the high-profile case that led to Lanez’s incarceration.
Lanez was convicted in December 2022 on three felony charges: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and negligent discharge of a firearm.
The conviction stemmed from a July 2020 incident following a party at Kylie Jenner‘s Hollywood Hills home, where Lanez shot Megan Thee Stallion in the foot and reportedly shouted for her to dance as she walked away from their vehicle.
