Tory Lanez‘s weekly releases of “Prison Tapes” have come to an abrupt end after prison guards at the California Correctional Institution raided his cell block and confiscated his recording equipment.
The rapper, currently serving time for his conviction in the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, had been using his time behind bars to continue making music.
TMZ Hip Hop confirmed the news with Ceasar McDowell, CEO of Unite the People and a chief deputy on Tory’s legal team. McDowell shared that prison officials informed Lanez’s team that inmates are strictly prohibited from having recording devices for several reasons, leading to the confiscation.
It’s currently unclear if Lanez will face additional consequences. For now, fans will have to rely on tracks like “Basement” and “Appellate Court,” which he released before his equipment was seized.
