‘Walk It Out’ rapper, Atlanta hip-hop icon DJ Unk’s cause of death revealed

The wife of Anthony Leonard Platt, the man better known as DJ Unk, has shared the cause of the Atlanta hip-hop icon’s death. 

Platt died on Jan. 24 at the age of 43.

What we know:

Platt’s wife, Sherkita Long-Platt announced his death on Friday in a Facebook post.

“Please respect me and my family. I just lost my husband and my kids just lost their father. Our life will never be the same,” she wrote. “I LOVE YOU ANTHONY FOREVER.”

Speaking to TMZ, Long-Platt said that the influential DJ died in his sleep from a heart attack.

She also denied speculation that her husband’s death was related to substance abuse. 

What we don’t know:

Details about a funeral service for Platt have not been announced.

Born on Nov. 28, 1982, in Atlanta, Platt rose to fame in the mid-2000s with his breakout hit single, “Walk It Out,” which climbed into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
