Young Thug got released from prison last week and it feels like the entire world is happy about it. He recently linked up with T.I. for his first public appearance since being permitted to go home.
TIP shared a video of the duo on Monday night (Nov. 4), asking his fellow Atlanta rapper how it felt to be home. “I’m back,” Thug said. “I’m back, Jack.” They both laughed and the “Whatever You Like” rapper added, “Aye man, ain’t no motherf**king cap in it.” Thugger replied, “No cap in my rap. The right way.” Before ending the video, the Paper Trail artist said, “It’s time. Now go tell that.”
Both of their final statements could have possibly alluded to the YSL members who took plea deals to gain their freedom and effectively “snitched” on Young Thug. However, they could also be alluding to potential music that they have on the way. Everyone is waiting to hear what the newly freed rapper has to say on wax and, given his collaborative history with T.I. plus their Atlanta ties, a record or two wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility. Watch the video below.
In 2014, T.I. and Young Thug dropped one of the latter’s breakthrough hits “About The Money.” TIP also joined Thug and Boosie Badazz on the Barter 6 cut “Can’t Tell.” They also had records like “I Need War,” “Peanut Butter Jelly,” “Ring,” and “The Weekend.”
Time will tell what music may come out of this, but one thing is for certain: the YSL leader needs to be very careful about what he says on tracks, per the terms of his release. He was given five years served and must serve 15 years probation, with the possibility of 20 years in prison if he breaks any of his probation guidelines.
The “Hot” rapper must also perform charity concerts throughout the year and he cannot be in contact with anyone involved in the case except for his brother and Gunna, the latter of which he specifically asked to be able to communicate and make music with.
The Gunna request was especially intriguing given the fact that fans thought their relationship was tarnished ever since the “Rodeo Dr” rapper took an Alford plea in December 2022 and did not appear on Young Thug’s June 2023 album Business Is Business. That speculation heightened this past weekend when Thug tweeted “Real plea deal jack!” and “Wham let’s drop one on these rats peter,” referencing Lil Baby’s nickname “Wham.”
